Using the Paroli & Parlay Betting Systems in Blackjack

When people speak of Blackjack betting systems, the first and often the only one that comes to mind is the Martingale system. Unfortunately this technique is flawed, as it asks you to augment your losing bets until you win. Instead of using this tactic, there are other more reliable procedures such as the Paroli and Parlay methods.

The Paroli Betting System

The Paroli method has been around for a while now, and is very popular among Blackjack players who like to play in a more conservative manner. The basic idea here is that when you win, you will bet the next amount based on your initial wager plus the amount you got.

Example: you wager $2 on a Blackjack table and win. Now you have $4, and this is the amount you put on the line on the succeeding hand. If you win again, you get $8. At this point you have two options: keep doubling up, or revert back to the $2. What most casino gamers do is to keep doubling until they lose.

The Parlay Betting System

The Parlay method, also known as "Let it Ride", utilizes a strategy that is somewhat akin to the way financial institutions compute interest. Although this bankroll management system was originally designed for horse racing, it is very applicable to Blackjack.

In many ways, the Parlay betting system is very similar to the Paroli process. Assuming that you bet out $10 and won, you can utilize the $20 as your wager in the next game. However unlike the Paroli system, the Parlay process allows you to bet more in the succeeding hands; besides the bet and profit you made, some make incremental increases also, depending on the Blackjack payout (i.e. if it is 2:1, 3:2, etc).

Of course you need not limit yourself to the basic concepts of either one of these Blackjack betting systems; you can just as easily triple the bets you make when you win, or you can bet one half. The beauty of both techniques is that they are flexible enough to be applicable for players with different bankroll sizes, and they also don't lose their efficiency regardless of the table limits.

The Parlay and Paroli betting systems have been used by a lot of Blackjack players, in both live and online casinos. They provide safety nets for players new to the concept of bankroll management, while at the same time allowing room to make serious money.

If you're still looking for a betting method to use, you can try either one here, and you'll likely end up with a nice bundle of cash.
